A common misconception about card counting in Blackjack is that Players keep track of individual cards. This could not be farther from the truth, unless you’re a mathematical genius with a photographic memory. You don’t have to be a whiz at math to be a whiz at card counting. One card counting system is known as the Hi-Lo system. Here, cards assume a value in card counting and usually take the form of +1, -1, or 0. Any card ranging from 2 to 6 is counted as +1. Any cards from 7 to 9 are counted as 0. Tens, Face Cards (Jack, Queen, King), and Aces are -1. When a card is played, you either add or substract. There are other card counting systems, but this one is the most accurate one around and it’s easy to understand.

If the count is positive, you should increase your bet amount. Why? Because this means that more high cards remain in the deck and the more high cards in the deck, the higher your chances of getting a Blackjack hand or the Dealer busting. If the count is negative, you should lower your bet amount, because the odds of getting an authentic Blackjack hand are fewer.

The ultimate goal of Blackjack is to give you an advantage over the house. If you employ the card counting strategy your advantage will become 1%, which means that, if you are playing at a $100 table, your profit will be $1 per hand. Although the amount seems minimal, it is still money in your pocket and, over time, you can expect to win a good amount of money. Just as Blackjack requires practice and patience, so too does card counting if you intend on using this skill to win at an online casino. Practice makes perfect, so be sure to practice as much as you can and as often as you can, so you can hone your Blackjack skills and win more hands than you lose playing Blackjack.
